Are we, truly free?

Other countries greatly affects our way of living. From the way we speak, to the way we dress, the food we eat and even the way we think. If this keeps coming, do you think the next generations will still know Philippines and its culture?

It’s so disappointing to think that people base intelligence by the number of language you could speak and understand. If you could express yourself in English and be able to communicate through it, they’ll praise you. If you could afford expensive products of different countries, they’ll surely consider you rich. It’s unfair isn’t it? We are filipinos but seems like we are not proud of it. We celebrated independence day, but I don’t think we are free yet.

Buwan Ng  Wika, is celebrated every month of August, With this years theme, “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino”. It aims to promote the national language and other indigenous languages in the Philippines. Manuel L. Quezon, or who we call “Ama ng Wikang Pambasa” pushed for establishing Tagalog as the Philippine’s national language. According to searches, This occurred during a time when most educated individuals regarded the influence of the English language as the mark of sophistication and intelligence. If natives only spoke the languages of the Philippines, they were not regarded in such high standing.

Learn to love and be proud of the things that we call our own. Be proud and spread our rich culture to the world, be proud cause you are a filipino!
