Stand up, we're Filipinos
Philippines
experience many typhoons, earthquakes, eruptions. We are often tested by it,
many buildings and lands are destroyed. But up to now, we are still here.
It is common
for the Philippines to experience such disasters. One reason is because of its location.
Philippines is located along the pacific ring of fire. The ring of fire is a
major area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where many earthquakes and
eruptions occur. Now because of this ring of fire, it is common for us to
experience sudden and unexpected earthquakes and eruptions. Philippines is
located in the Pacific region near the equator, that is why 15-20 typhoons hit
the country every year.
The
resiliency of Filipinos can be seen each time disasters strikes the country. No
matter how huge the damage it causes, we are able to get back up, for we are
prepared and ready to help each other. But preparedness as a whole cam never be
enough.
This year’s
National Disaster Resilience Month was focused on the ‘personal level’ of
knowledge and preparedness regarding the things that should and shouldn’t be
done during calamities or disasters, with the theme “Katatagan sa Kalamidad ay
Makakamtan kapag Sapat and Kaalaman Sa Kahandaan”.
In the
future if each one of us will know what to do each time disasters come, we’ll
know what to do and survive. We’ll be able to rise after storms and
earthquakes. We will be able to stand up after we have temporarily fallen, cause
we are Filipinos.
